Alaska State Fair AAMA Car Show

All issues regarding the on-again -- off-again AAMA Alaska State Fair Car Show have finally been resolved. In short: THEY WANT US BACK, AND SO OUR CAR SHOW IS ON!

And so - although I realize this is very short notice - we are going to hold our car show (as we have for many, many years past) THIS SATURDAY (August 16th).

Our show spot will be about 40 feet from our previous location, down the trail from the giant Farm Exhibits building, parallel with the black fence alongside the grandstands (see attached maps).

Be aware that many structures there have changed, or have been moved a bit. There will be a large circus tent very close to us. The beer hall tent has been moved over about 10 feet. The bathroom building remains very close, just across the trail from us. There will be some new food trucks parked very close to our area.

The fair hours this Saturday are 11:00am to 10pm. We will arrive and stage on the road within the fairground, just shy of our spot, between 10:00am and 10:30 am, after which we can caravan as a group into our fair spot. After parking your antique or classic vehicle, you will have complete access to the fair. We will have a sign-up sheet (as we do every year), for Mushers to volunteer to man our booth, answer questions of the fairgoers, and keep an eye on the cars - all in one hour shifts.

If you cannot make it there at the above mentioned time, you can arrive anytime  on your own during fair hours, and leave anytime you wish.

I have negotiated free fair tickets, for those of us that participate in the show, that can be used anytime and any day at this year's fair (until Labor Day). I will be holding these tickets, so find me if you want them.

There will be no entry fee for us or our Musher cars on Saturday.

Whilst AAMA members Jennifer Isham and Brian Fay were the original coordinators for this event, after the State Fair cancelled our show a few weeks ago, they made other plans for this weekend. Our thanks go out to them for their gallant efforts! Given the short time for preparation, President Richard Golding, will now be the event coordinator. I can be reached at 907-227-2595 or rsg1952@gmail.com.

Consult your email tol find two maps. They can be opened, outside of your email program, and enlarged to show more detail. Both show the route to our show's spot. The first gives a little more detail as to the route to our show spot. The other covers the drive in from the Glenn Highway.
